Separators for petroleum substances

Oil-derived separators are devices used for pre-treatment of rainwater or process water to separate pollutants (hydrocarbons) that come from car parks, car washes, car repair shops or vehicle disassembly stations.  We offer separators with class I coalescing and lamella cartridges, for which the concentration of oil-derived pollutants at the outlet must be below the standard of 5 mg/l. We have separators with an integrated settling tank, with an additional by-pass (hydraulic bypass) and with an integrated pump chamber. We recommend reading the guide: "Selection of a petroleum substance separator". You are welcome to contact our advisors to select the right separator flow rate and settling tank volume.

Offered separators are made of polyethylene by rotational molding method which ensures that the tank is durable and tight for many years. The small height of the tank allows you to reduce assembly costs by using shallower excavations during installation. As a standard option, the separators are suitable for foundation in green areas, but if the manufacturer's instructions are followed, they can be installed in the area of car traffic or as free-standing separators. The separators meet all standards and approvals allowing installation in the country.

Aquatechnika is the perfect place to buy oil-based separators. We guarantee delivery throughout Poland - Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Poznan, Szczecin, Lodz, Katowice, other and foreign deliveries. Before making your selection, we invite you to check attractive offers and contact advisers. We offer the lowest prices and the opportunity to negotiate.

FAQ

How does an oil separator work?

Wastewater treatment in oil separators takes place mechanically. First, solids are separated by means of a settling tank (sedimentation). Next, the oil-derived particles are separated and collected using filters (coalescing or lamella filters) in a separation chamber. Finally, the wastewater flows out of the unit via an outlet to the sewer. The outflow is equipped with an automatic float closure, which closes the tank when it overflows with accumulated petroleum substances.

Which filter cartridge: lamella or coalescing?

The choice of cartridge depends primarily on the size of the catchment area. Lamella separators are dedicated to large catchments with varying flow rates. Lamella cartridge separators are recommended for large car parks, industrial plants, airports, etc. Coalescence separators are used for smaller catchments that are also characterised by a lower concentration of pollutants. They are dedicated to workshops, car washes, petrol stations, etc. The topic of filter cartridges is discussed in more detail here.

How to select an oil separator?

The selection of an oil separator should be guided by the size of the catchment area, the quantity of solids, the ability to operate in heavy rain, and ecological considerations, i.e. the quantity and concentration of pollutants. In order to select a petroleum separator, calculations must be made. This involves calculating the maximum water flow. On the basis of the values obtained, the appropriate solution offered by the manufacturer should be selected. More information and a calculator can be found in the guide.

Which separator for a car wash?

For car washes, an oil separator with a larger settling tank is dedicated, which will allow the separation of solids such as larger quantities of sand, stones, etc. Fully retentive separators are recommended as they treat the entire flow that can be discharged into the sewerage system. In order to select a separator with suitable parameters, calculations should be made. These consist of counting the washer flows that will create the maximum water flow. On the basis of the values obtained, a suitable solution offered by the manufacturer should be selected. More information and a calculator can be found in the guide.

Which separator for the car park?

The correct selection of an oil separator depends on the water flow rate through the separator. Calculation formulas are used for this purpose. In addition, it is necessary to take into account the special conditions that are associated with the installation of the separator in a drive-through area. The installation requires a relief plate and manhole cover. In car parks, a by-pass oil separator is used, which is equipped with a bypass with a flow higher than the nominal flow. The bypass is a safety solution for excessive waste situations. More information and examples of calculations in the guide.

What kind of separator for a car workshop?

A separator with a coalescing cartridge is recommended for the workshop. This causes micro-droplets of hydrocarbons to clump together into larger separable clusters. The particles of separated liquid float to the surface of the waste water, forming a layer of petroleum substances. For more information, see the guide.
