MICRO-RETENTION PROGRAMME - MY WATER 2026 - LATEST NEWS

MIKRORETENCY 2026 programme - a new version of the "MY WATER 2026" programme

MICRO-RETENTION 2026 = MY WATER 2026

2026 brings significant changes to support for domestic rainwater retention. The existing 'MY WATER' programme is returning in a new formula as MIKRORETENCIA 2026. This is a continuation of the well-known and highly popular programme implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in cooperation with the Provincial Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management.
The change of name is not just a formal procedure - it is an extension of the approach to small-scale retention in the context of climate change adaptation, improvement of water security and real support for households in saving water.

Level of funding and programme budget

The MIKRORETENCIA 2026 programme provides attractive financial support for owners of single-family houses.
In 2026, PLN 173 million of FEnIKS European Funds are planned for the programme. Funding can be up to 80% of the eligible investment costs, but no more than PLN 6,000 per project.

Support includes, among others:

Importantly, the programme is implemented by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, which in 2026 has a record budget of more than PLN 35 billion for pro-environmental and climate measures. This shows the scale of state support for investments related to water retention, climate change adaptation and improving water security in Poland.

Such significant funding strengthens the sustainability of the programme and increases the real chances of beneficiaries to obtain grants.

Objectives of the MIKRORETENCY 2026 programme

The MIKRORETENCIA 2026 programme (formerly "MY WATER") aims to:
  • increase retention in backyard areas,
  • reduce the effects of drought,
  • reducing the outflow of rainwater into the sewerage system,
  • rational management of rainwater,
  • improving the resilience of single-family buildings to the effects of climate change.

The funding covers the purchase, installation and commissioning of rainwater and snowmelt retention and utilisation facilities on the property.

Who can benefit from MIKRORETENCIA 2026 funding?

The beneficiaries of the programme are owners and co-owners of single-family residential buildings. Support is aimed at individuals who plan to install a retention system on their own property.
As in previous editions of 'MY WATER', calls will be made by the locally competent Provincial Funds for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

Microretention 2026 - how to correctly go through the call for proposals and prepare the documentation?

A template of a grant application is available on:
  • Beneficiary Portal relevant for your province
  • in the "My Water/Microretention" tab
  • or in the "Programmes and competitions - applications" section.

The application form is usually made available in PDF format (to be filled in electronically). In the same place are published:
  • current call rules,
  • programme regulations,
  • detailed conditions of co-financing applicable in a given WFOŚiGW.
It is worth remembering that the call for proposals is conducted by the territorially competent Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, so the details may vary slightly from one voivodeship to another.

What is the application procedure in the nationwide MIRORETENANCE 2026 programme?

Before starting the investment or completing the documents, you should:

  • check whether the call is active,
  • familiarise yourself with the current regulations,
  • make sure what costs are eligible.

Implementation of the investment (if required)

In many editions of the programme, the principle of cost reimbursement applies - this means that:
  • first you realise the investment,
  • then you submit an application for reimbursement of a part of the costs incurred.

Filling in the application form

In the application form, you should provide, among other things:
  • the applicant's data,
  • property address,
  • description of the planned or executed installation,
  • material and financial scope of the investment,
  • technical parameters of the retention system.

Attachment of required attachments

This is one of the most important stages - the absence of a document may result in the rejection of the application.

Required attachments in the Microretention 2026 programme

Although details may vary minimally between provinces, the basic set of documents usually includes:
  • A document confirming the legal title to the property
(e.g. title deed, extract from the land register, co-ownership agreement)
  • Material and financial scope of the investment
That is, a breakdown of the costs with details of the elements of the installation(tank, pump, infiltration system, pipes, filtration, etc.).
  • Plot sketch/site drawing.
    Should include:
    • building outline,
    • roof area,
    • location of tank
    • installation route,
    • the location where the water is to be drained or used.

Supporting documents for the investment

  • invoices or receipts for purchase and installation,
  • confirmation of payment,
  • installation acceptance report
    or declaration of self-assembly,
  • photo documentation of the completed installation.

The photographs should show, among other things:

What should you pay particular attention to when completing the documents for the MIKRORETENCIA 2026 = MY WATER 2026 grant?

  • Completeness of documents - even a minor deficiency can prolong the procedure.
  • Legibility of invoices - the data must match the applicant's data.
  • Dates of documents - the investment must fall within the period of cost eligibility.
  • Technical parameters of the tank - capacity and purpose must meet the requirements of the programme.

The most common errors in applications for MIKRORETENCY 2026 grants

  • no situational sketch,
  • unsigned statements,
  • illegible scans of documents,
  • lack of confirmation of payment,
  • discrepancies between investment description and invoices.

Summary of the MIKRORETENCJA 2026 programme

The MIKRORETENCY 2026 programme, formerly known as 'MY WATER', is another opportunity to obtain funding for retention installations at single-family homes. In the face of rising water costs and progressive climate change, investment in retention is no longer just an ecological choice - it is becoming a rational economic decision.
It is advisable to prepare for the call now and plan an installation that will make the most of the potential of rainwater.
For customers planning to take advantage of the programme, now is the perfect time to choose the right retention system. Aquatechnika's range includes:
A properly selected system will not only meet the requirements of the programme, but above all ensure many years of trouble-free operation.
It is worth keeping an eye on announcements published by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and regional funds, so as not to miss the deadline for applications.

UPDATE: Microretention 2026 - new information on calls for proposals

The micro-retention 2026 programme is entering the next stage of implementation. The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management has confirmed that the call for implementing authorities has been completed and the next step will be the calls for residents.

From the point of view of home and garden owners, this means that the real possibility of obtaining funding for rainwater management systems is now very close.

Details of the scheme are available on the government website:
https://www.gov.pl/web/nfosigw/mikroretencja-w-domach-i-ogrodach--wkrotce-nabory-dla-grantobiorcow

Microretention 2026 - when is the call for residents?

According to the latest announcement, calls for individuals will start in Q2 2026.

Applications will be accepted by:

  • the relevant WFOŚiGW in the respective province,
  • as part of regional grant programmes.

This means that details (deadlines, forms, requirements) may vary locally - it is worth keeping up to date with your fund's announcements.

Microretention 2026 funding - how much can you get?

Current assumptions for the Microretention 2026 programme include:

  • up to £8,000 grant,
  • up to 90% of eligible costs,
  • programme budget: PLN 173 million (FEnIKS 2021-2027).

This is a significantly higher level of support than in previous editions of the My Water programme, making investment in retention even more cost-effective.

What can you get a grant for? (micro-retention in practice)

The Microretention 2026 programme covers a wide range of solutions for rainwater management:

  • rainwater tanks (above and below ground),
  • systems for collecting water from roofs and paved surfaces,
  • infiltration boxes and drains,
  • absorption wells and infiltration solutions,
  • water utilisation systems (e.g. garden watering).

✋ Check out the solutions from Aquatechnika:

The key idea of the programme is to retain water on the plot instead of discharging it into the sewer system.

⚠️ Important principles and limitations of the scheme

Significant conditions appear in the current micro-retention 2026 programme guidelines:

  • no possibility of combining with other grants (e.g. the previous 'My Water'),
  • possible settlement of investments made since 1 July 2024,
  • the need to meet technical requirements (e.g. minimum system capacity).

This is important information for those who have already completed an installation - some of the costs may be eligible.

Why does micro-retention 2026 matter?

The Microretention 2026 programme is not only about financial support, but above all:

  • reducing tap water consumption,
  • improved water balance on the plot,
  • real savings in garden maintenance,
  • increased resistance to drought and heavy rainfall.

In practice, this means greater water independence and more sustainable management of resources.

Bottom line - microretention 2026 = My Water 2026

Microretention 2026 is one of the most important support programmes for homeowners in the near future. Enrolment starts in Q2 and the level of funding (up to £8,000 and 90%) makes investment in water retention systems particularly attractive.

If you are planning to install a reservoir or infiltration system - now is a good time to prepare for the call for applications.
