Starting November 23, 2023, the call for applications for the fifth edition of the Rainwater 5.0 program began and will run until February 29, 2024.

Applications can be submitted in person at the headquarters of the Office of the Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region in Poznań at 34 Niepodległości Avenue, 61-714 Poznań. Via traditional mail or electronic mail.

Since 2020, the Local Government of the Wielkopolska Region, has been conducting a program on rainwater harvesting entitled "Rainwater. "Rainwater" encouraging local government units to reduce the adverse effects of climate change.

The goal of the continuation of the Rainwater program is to prevent the consequences of drought, which have been led by prolonged interruptions in precipitation, as well as increasing intervals without precipitation during the growing season of plants.

The retention and use of rainwater significantly contributes to lower budget bills. In addition, it relieves pressure on storm drains during heavy rains, further protecting against local flooding.

The program also plays an educational role for the public regarding environmental awareness of rainwater storage.

The Board of Directors of the Wielkopolska voivodship has allocated about 5 million zlotys for the Rainwater 5.0 program. The possible subsidy to be obtained is a maximum of 150 thousand pln representing up to 80% of the total investment cost.

The applicant (local government unit - city, municipality, county) - may obtain within one task a maximum of 150 thousand pln. As part of the call, the unit may submit a maximum of 2 applications, which will lead to a maximum of 300 thousand pln in funding. A prerequisite is that one of the applications should concern the construction of rainwater retention systems.

In summary, thanks to the Deszczówka program, up to 25,000 m3 of rainwater can be collected from the roofs of buildings during the year and more than 500,000 m2 of green areas in the Wielkopolska province can be irrigated.
