Pump controllers and inverters

The offer includes both very simple models of pump controllers and inverters with basic functions (acting as pressure switches) and advanced control panels for operating several pumps. The principle of the controller and inverter is the same. They select the appropriate pump operating parameters to achieve a constant pressure in the system. The devices adapt the motor speed to the given situation. Without control, the pump operates in binary mode (0 - 1), i.e. the motor rotates at maximum speed or does not rotate at all. This, of course, involves high energy consumption and therefore expenses. Pump controllers and inverters ensure that costs are reduced and the life of the pump is longer.

There are also advanced multifunctional control boxes that enable the selection of suitable operating parameters for pump systems. The units have many options for selection and personalisation according to user and workplace requirements.

Inverters, or frequency converters, are devices that are used to maintain constant pressure in a water system. In order to ensure this, the pump has to operate with defined parameters. Setting the pump manually would be problematic, if not impossible. Programming the inverter involves entering key parameters, e.g. the pressure or switching time. The inverter or controller automatically selects the optimum pump motor speed (reduces or increases speed). A constant pressure in the system increases comfort and reduces costs resulting from the operation of the pump. Thanks to this device, the water pressure, e.g. after turning on a tap, is always constant. Inverters and controllers are compatible with submersible and ground pumps. The choice between controller and inverter depends on the user's personal preference and the place of application. The devices are used in: industry, domestic homes, garden and field irrigation installations, etc.

The offer of the Aquatechnika shop is the ideal place to buy controllers and inverters for pumps. FAQ - questions and answers

What are controllers and inverters used for?

Controllers and inverters are used to keep the pressure in the system constant, protecting the pump from unfavourable operating conditions. Thanks to the devices, it is possible to manage the pump's operating parameters depending on the situation that exists in the installation. Controllers and inverters have all the tasks of a classic pressure switch with the difference that they are much more sophisticated and allow a wider range of regulation.

What are the benefits of controllers and inverters?

Controllers and inverters significantly improve user comfort, as they keep the pressure constant when the valve (tap) is opened. Thanks to these devices, the pump operates within the optimum range of its parameters. In addition, the inverters actively select the pump's operating parameters depending on the conditions in the system. This reduces energy consumption and extends the life of the pump - its start-up is smooth.

Choose controller or inverter?

The choice between a controller and an inverter is based primarily on the pairing with the parameters of the installation and the pump it is going to operate. For a simple application in a domestic garden, a pressure switch - an electronic controller - works well. In situations where the devices connected to the network are characterised by significant differences in hydraulic parameters, have different capacities, etc., an inverter will be suitable. An inverter allows a smooth start-up of the pump and ideally matches its parameters to the operation of each piece of equipment.

Can inverters be installed outdoors?

Outdoor-mounted inverters should be placed in special boxes that are equipped with heating and cooling. The device must not be tightly sealed, due to forced cooling - it dissipates heat into the box. The inverter should not be exposed to extreme temperatures. Most often, manufacturers specify an ambient temperature range of 0 ºC to 50 ºC, but this depends on the specific model.

What parameters do I need to select a controller/inverter?

The controller or inverter must be selected to match the pump that serves the installation. The pump parameters to be taken into account are: voltage (V), maximum power (W), current consumption (A), insulation class of the motor, pressure (bar), capacity (m3/h). It is absolutely essential that the device does not have lower parameter values than the pump.

Can I keep the inverters in the box for the winter?

Yes, if they are not used. Coelbo's electronic devices can be left in an external box for the winter without being removed.
