The material used is polyethylene. This plastic is resistant to chemicals. In addition, it shows high resistance to high and low temperatures. It does not corrode or fade when exposed to UV light. Polyethylene is a non-corrosive material, so it is ideal for storing UAN, which has strong oxidising properties. The risk of leakage is marginal.

Which tank to store UAN in - metal tanks or polyethylene tanks?

Due to its strong oxidising properties, RSM causes corrosion. This is why the tank should be well protected against corrosion. For this reason, we recommend tanks made of polyethylene, which is a very durable and corrosion-resistant material.

Do the UAN tanks on offer allow the distribution of fertiliser?

What should I look for when choosing a liquid fertiliser tank?

The most important criterion for the selection of RSM tanks is the capacity. The most popular variants are 20 m3 and 22 m3. Tanks of this capacity will allow all of the UAN to be taken from the tanker. However, it is worth noting that smaller capacities are also popular for use on smaller farms. The standard equipment of the tanks fully allows the use of fertiliser. However, in addition to this, it is worth retrofitting the tank with monitoring and liquid level alarm systems, which will increase safety and comfort of use.

Does RSM in the tank lose its qualities?

The biggest challenge when storing UAN is the crystallisation of the fertiliser at freezing temperatures. The crystallisation temperature depends on the nitrogen content of the fertiliser. This process can be reversed, but it is time-consuming. Double-walled tanks are recommended to protect the tank from freezing temperatures. A second challenge is the oxidising properties of UAN, which causes corrosion. This can be prevented by using polyethylene tanks.

Is it necessary to get permission to build an UAN tank?

According to the new legislation, fuel and liquid fertiliser tanks do not require a building permit. A building permit does not apply to finished tanks, as by definition they are not building structures.
