The heating oil tanks are fully sealed. They are made of polyethylene, which is resistant to adverse weather conditions. This plastic does not corrode or fade under UV light. It is resistant to any damage. An additional safety feature is the double-walled construction for heating oil. This reduces the risk of leakage to a minimum.

FAQ

What fuel oil tank capacities are available?

The range includes fuel oil tanks with capacities from 200 litres to 10,000 litres. We particularly recommend tanks with a capacity of up to 5,000 litres, as no additional permits are required.
1

Can refuelling access be secured by card?

Heating oil and fuel tank manufacturers offer various systems for accessing and monitoring the contents of the tank. Access to the tank is then possible on presentation of a magnetic card, magnetic key or by logging into the system, etc.
1

Can you monitor who is refuelling and how much?

Manufacturers of fuel tanks (including heating oil) offer a range of systems for monitoring and controlling the level of oil in the tank. They use special access keys that are assigned to specific employees. This makes it possible to record information on fuel consumption by registered persons.
1

Can a heating oil tank be used as a fuel distribution station?

The heating oil tank can be upgraded with distribution systems for the convenient collection of the medium. In this way, the tank can be used as a heating oil distribution station.
1

What kind of tank does it have to be to store heating oil?

The heating oil tank should be fully sealed and equipped with a container or structure to catch any possible leakage. Double-walled tanks are recommended for additional protection against low and high temperatures, which affect the loss of fuel properties. Tanks should be equipped with liquid status information and leakage alarm systems. Appropriate distances have to be kept when planning a tank on a plot of land.
1

Do I need building permission for a heating oil tank?

A building permit is not required if the heating oil tank has a capacity of up to 5 m3 and is used for personal use. For larger capacities, approval must be obtained from the National Fire Service and the Building Control Inspectorate. Details can be found in the guide.
1

Can a heating oil tank be placed inside a building?

Fuel oil tanks can be placed inside a building, in a prepared room that is well ventilated and equipped with a spill tray. The last condition is not required if the construction (double-walled) of the tank prevents leakage. All tanks in the storage facility must be of the same type and size and their total volume must not be greater than 100 m3.
1

Can a fuel oil tank be placed in the boiler room next to the heating boiler?

This is allowed provided that the fuel oil tank has a capacity of up to 1 m3 and stands min. 1 m from the boiler. A separating brick wall of the prescribed dimensions should also be placed between the tank and the boiler.
1

Which heating oil tank does not require a building permit?

The legal requirements that apply to fuel tanks are correlated with their capacity. No permit or notification is required for tanks with a capacity of up to 2.5 m3. For capacities up to 5 m3, no permit is required, only registration of the tank with the Pressure Department of the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT). For details, please see the guide.
1

What approvals are required for heating oil tanks?

This depends on the capacity of the heating oil tank. Tanks up to 2.5 m3 do not require a permit or registration. Tanks up to 5 m3 have to be registered with the UDT. In the case of tanks with a larger capacity, additional operating approvals are required from the National Fire Service and the National Building Control Inspectorate. Details can be found in the guide.
1

How long can heating oil be stored?

This depends on the storage conditions and is therefore related to the quality of the heating oil tank. It is estimated that, under optimal conditions, heating oil can be stored for up to two years.
1

Can heating oil tanks be combined with each other?

Fuel oil tanks can be successfully combined. This is possible for most of the tanks on offer. The rules for combining them depend on the tank design and the manufacturer's technology.
