Collectors on the gutter

Rainwater harvesters - practical ways to collect rainwater

Rainwater harvesting systems are devices mounted in the guttering system that allow rainwater to be quickly and conveniently discharged into a tank. Thanks to them, free rainwater can be easily used for watering the garden, powering household installations or cleaning works.

Aquatechnika offers three basic types of collectors:

  • Narine collectors - mounted on gutter downpipes with a diameter of 50 to 100 mm. Simple to install, reliable and versatile, they work well in most domestic rainwater systems.

  • Collectors with filter and collection regulation - equipped with plastic or Inox steel mesh filters that retain leaves and fine debris. They are adjustable - opening and closing the flow of water into the tank - and also have overflow protection, making them a particularly convenient solution.

  • Recessed gutter collectors - mounted directly into the gutter opening, with a silicone gutter insert. Equipped with small filters and a flow control system, ideal where quick installation and an aesthetically pleasing installation are important.

Rainwater collectors are practical accessories that make it easy to connect a gutter system to a rainwater tank. Their installation is quick and their construction made of durable materials guarantees many years of use. However, in order for the system to work properly, it is important to choose the right collector for the specific installation.

Here are the basic steps to consider when choosing one:

  1. Check the diameter of the downpipe - most collectors fit pipes from 50 to 100 mm. An accurate diameter match guarantees leak tightness and smooth operation.

  2. Determine the capacity and type of tank - for large tanks, it is a good idea to use models with inlet control and overflow protection.

  3. Consider water purity - if you plan to use rainwater for irrigation or household purposes, choose a collector with a filter to retain leaves and small debris.

  4. Consider ease of use - some rainwater collectors have an open and close function, making it easier to use during periods of less rainfall.

  5. Match the colour to your gutter and the installation method - if you want an unobtrusive solution, choose a gutter-mounted collector that is virtually invisible once installed.

With these simple steps, you can select the perfect collector for your installation and needs. If in doubt, our specialists will help you with your selection - we also offer technical drawings and materials for designers to help you select the entire system.

FAQ - questions and answers

How does a rainwater harvester work?

The rainwater collector is mounted on the downpipe. It redirects some of the rainwater into the tank and discharges the excess further when the tank is full. This makes the installation maintenance-free and protects the system from overflowing.
0

Which rainwater harvester should I choose?

The choice depends on the diameter of the gutter, the type of tank and the user's expectations. Gutter collectors with a filter and valve provide cleaner water and greater rainwater harvesting efficiency. The downside, however, is that the gutter must be cut. Recessed rainwater collectors, on the other hand, are a simple and convenient solution without the need to cut the gutter, but only to cut a small hole, which does not void the gutter warranty.
0

Is a rainwater harvester difficult to install?

The assembly of the collector is simple - simply attach it to the drain pipe and connect it to the tank. In most cases, no special tools are required. The entire installation takes only a few minutes. It is advisable to install the collector at the level of the highest filling level, which will create the effect of a connected vessel. If the rainwater storage tank overflows, the water will return to the gutter downpipe and be drained away , preventing rainwater overflow.
0

Which tanks do rainwater harvesters fit into?

The collectors can be used for both simple above-ground tanks and decorative rainwater tanks, where access to water is of a utilitarian nature, such as for watering the garden.

How do you choose a collector for your gutter?

The selection of a suitable rainwater collector depends primarily on the diameter of the downpipe - standard models fit pipes from 50 to 100 mm, but solutions for larger diameters are also available. It is important that the collector fits perfectly to ensure a tight seal and proper water flow.

The second criterion is functionality - if you want cleaner water, choose a collector with a filter (plastic or Inox mesh). For larger tanks, models with flow control and overflow protection will be practical.

It is also worth paying attention to the installation location. For traditional downpipes, ravine collectors are used, while for installations requiring aesthetics and a discreet appearance, collectors recessed directly into the gutter.

To summarise:

  • measure the diameter of the downpipe,

  • select additional functions (filter, adjustment, protection),

  • choose the type of installation (free-standing, recessed).

This will provide you with a collector which is perfectly adapted to your installation and expectations.
