UP TO PLN 200 000 IN SUBSIDIES FOR FARMERS - HOW TO GET FUNDING?

Up to PLN 200 000 in subsidies for farmers - how to get funding and what can it be used for?

Farmers in Poland can count on financial support from EU grants to modernise their farms and purchase modern machinery and equipment. In this article, we will present key information on grants of up to PLN 200,000, which are available to farmers through the Agency for the Restructuring and Modernisation of Agriculture (ARiMR) under the Strategic Planfor the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027.

The grant budget is as much as PLN 943 million. The call for applications is scheduled for 23 October - 20 November 2024.

Who is the beneficiary?

Beneficiaries of the programme can be individual farmers who run agricultural holdings in Poland. The programme is open to farms of up to 300 ha that require modernisation to meet modern market challenges. Grants are available for both young farmers who are just starting out and more experienced farm owners who want to invest in new technologies.

In addition, groups of farmers (minimum of three) are also able to apply for financial support.

Grant amounts

The maximum amount of subsidy is PLN 200,000 per beneficiary. In the case of groups of farmers, the support is aggregated. The amount of subsidy awarded depends on the type and value of the planned investment. The programme envisages covering part of the eligible costs.

Financial support is granted in the form of:

  1. Reimbursement of part of the eligible costs incurred (e.g. purchase of machinery, equipment),
  2. Established standard unit rates (this applies to manure slabs and slurry tanks).
In addition, there is an option to receive an advance payment of 50% before the start of the investment.

The amount of funding can be:

  • up to 80% of eligible costs in the case of a group of farmers;
  • up to 65% of eligible costs or unit costs for a single farmer;
The subsidy applies to investments with total costs exceeding min. PLN 20 000.

What is subject to co-financing for farmers?

It is possible to subsidise the purchase of a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment. The money can be obtained for the purchase of, among others

Funding can also be provided for the purchase of specialist software, machinery for agricultural production and the modernisation of existing equipment. In specific cases, it is also possible to support investments in the infrastructure of a farm that directly affects its operation, such as the modernisation of livestock buildings or irrigation systems.

How to obtain the subsidy?

The process of applying for a subsidy is not complicated, but it requires thorough preparation. First of all, the farmer should visit the nearest ARMA branch and submit an application for co-financing. The only things to be ensured are:

  • to maintain the continuity of the investment for 5 years after obtaining co-financing; the equipment cannot be sold during this period
  • to maintain 85% of the average annual livestock and agricultural area; the base year is the one in which the application is submitted
Once the application has been submitted, ARMA assesses it and then informs the farmer of the decision. If the application is successful, a subsidy agreement is signed and the funds are paid into the beneficiary's account.

EU subsidies, available through the ARMA, are an important support for Polish farmers, enabling them to modernise their farms and invest in modern technologies. Thanks to the possibility of obtaining up to PLN 200 thousand for the purchase of machinery and equipment, farmers can significantly improve the efficiency of their work and competitiveness on the market. It is therefore worth taking advantage of this opportunity by meeting the relevant conditions and meticulously preparing for the application process.
