USE OF RAIN WATER

We can collect rainwater from the roofs of buildings and from paved surfaces such as terraces, parking lots, streets and roads. Rainwater is directed to filtering devices in order to separate mechanical impurities, and then it is delivered to the tanks through pipes.

The use of rainwater in the garden

The advantage of using rainwater in the garden is its beneficial effect on garden and potted plants. Rainwater as a solution of weak acids has a low pH - making it perfect for watering all plants, including acidophilic ones. In addition, it is rich in nutrients and does not contain elements harmful to plants, which can be found in tap water. These harmful compounds are chlorine and fluoride, which are added to tap water to kill pathogenic bacteria. Unfortunately, they can damage plants and make water less available for them. In addition, rainwater is free and the plants thrive thanks to it. The advantage of collecting water in the retention tank is also its later use during drought, especially when it falls during plant vegetation.

The use of rainwater at home

Rainwater management systems allow us to connect them to the existing plumbing in the building, and in the event of rainwater deficit, it will be supplemented with tap water. Thanks to such solutions, we can use rainwater to flush toilets or laundry. Rainwater is soft water, which has a positive effect on the quality of washing and the service life of the device (scale is not deposited, as is the case with tap water). When using rainwater, we use less detergents, which has a double benefit as it reduces costs and introduces fewer chemicals into the environment. Retention tanks with the use of rainwater will also find application on a larger scale, e.g. development buildings, technical halls. Rainwater can be used for cleaning purposes, such as cleaning staircases, cleaning floors of technical spaces. For fear of contaminants getting into the water supply system, we can use mechanical filters that will stop pollutants such as sand or leaves, and carbon filters that will definitely improve the quality of rainwater. However, it should be noted that rainwater cannot be used for hygiene purposes. The rainwater contains microorganisms that exclude the use of this water for consumption. It is possible to clean the water using UV lamps.

The use of rainwater in industry

The great advantage of retention is the use of rainwater in places using above-average amounts of water. Such a place is e.g. a car wash. It is characterized by a large catchment area, thanks to which a large amount of water will be retained in the reservoir. It will certainly significantly reduce the cost of water consumption. Other examples are the use of rainwater for cooling purposes, in technological processes and for the purpose of securing water for production. Of course, for each of these purposes, rainwater must be pre-treated before use.

It is worth noting that the rainwater collection and management system brings environmental and financial benefits. Its use reduces the amount of bills for both supplying tap water and discharging sewage into the sewage system. In addition, the water accumulated in the tank is a protection in the event of a failure of the treatment plant or water supply network.
