Condensate from heating boilers is characterised by a very low pH. It is estimated that approximately 1.6 litres of acidic condensate is produced during 1 h of operation of a gas boiler with a power output of 10 kW. Condensate from oil boilers is the most acidic (pH = less than 2). The introduction of toxic condensate into the environment results in environmental degradation. In addition, diverting the condensate directly to a wastewater treatment plant is unacceptable. It blocks the purification process. The bacterial flora then dies off. The use of a condensate neutraliser is always recommended where the heating system contains boilers.
The condensate neutraliser in this offer is a granular container that contains alkaline chemicals (e.g. calcium carbonate - CaCO3). After reacting with the condensate, the substances cause the neutralisation of acidic sulphur compounds. The liquid is passed through the granular container by gravity.
The correct operation of the condensate neutraliser is dependent on the condition of the cartridge. This can be verified using a pH indicator - litmus paper. A functioning neutraliser should show a pH above 6. In practice, the neutralising bed should be replaced every 8-12 months. This guarantees correct operation of the equipment and high efficiency of the installation.
