SMDP authentication fob

SMDP or Liquid Dispensing Monitoring System is a tool that exercises control over dispensed fuel in an enterprise.

Among other things, key fobs are used for each access to the SMDP system, acting as user identification. All fueling will be registered to a specific person or vehicle (single identification) and to a person and vehicle simultaneously (dual identification). The administrator sets access limits for each person or vehicle and can prevent real-time viewing of spent fuel.

Intuitive and easy-to-use software will significantly facilitate the supervision of fuel management.

SMDP authentication fobs are convenient pendants that can be clipped to keys. Unlike proximity cards, they only have a different outer casing, the principle of operation is the same.

Schematic of the operation of SMDP authentication pendant

SMDP proximity fobs have a built-in microprocessor, antenna and memory. Data reading is done by electromagnetic induction, wirelessly. During the user's authorization/deauthorization process, the reader receives the signal passing through the key fob's chip, and then interprets it accordingly.

Authentication fobs work at very close range - from a few to several centimeters.

Advantages of using key fobs for SMDP authentication

  • Very low cost of purchase and use
  • No batteries - wireless communication
  • High durability of the device - compared to a proximity card, there is less risk of damage. The card stored inappropriately (for example, in a pocket) may break.
  • Efficient security system against unauthorized access
