The Catch the Rain subsidy for Wroclaw started in 2023
The subsidy program in Wroclaw has already been in use since 2019. The purpose of the subsidy is to encourage city residents to invest in rainwater retention systems. Small-scale retention in general involves collecting rainwater. The rainwater is then used for irrigation, watering, laundry, etc. The water is characterized by a low pH (soft water). It is safe for plumbing equipment, as it does not cause scale buildup. By catching rainwater, overall water retention can be increased and the negative effects of drought can be reduced. The concreting of cities resulted in the majority of rainwater being diverted into the sewer system. As a result, the system is overloaded and local flooding is observed. Impermeable surfaces prevent water from properly seeping into the ground. The result is the formation of urban heat islands, which is synonymous with the worsening of the quality of life of residents. The task of small-scale retention is to improve the microclimate. Rainwater collection is also economically viable. This is because it reduces costs from the use of tap water. Retention systems also reduce the amount of rain tax.
The Catch the Rain program is a local subsidy for Wroclaw residents. It is a full-fledged alternative to the Moja Woda (My Water) program. To date, more than 600 beneficiaries have already taken advantage of the additional funds. Also in 2023, the city authorities did not disappoint and, as in previous years, another call for applications for the Catch the Rain grant in Wroclaw has been launched. The subsidy is very popular among citizens. This year the city will allocate a pool of funds for this purpose in the amount of PLN 550 thousand. Residents can apply until August 31, 2023. The order of applications is decisive. We invite you to take advantage of the subsidy.
