Settling tanks

Settling tanks are sealed flow tanks designed for installation in the ground. They are part of a domestic wastewater treatment plant. Sludge accumulates in the settling tank, which falls to the bottom in the process of sedimentation. The parameters of the settlingc tank have to be adjusted to the number of permanent residents. The conditions of the anaerobic treatment process that takes place in the settling tank are closely related to the capacity of the tank.

There are tanks made of high-quality polyethylene. This is a material resistant to adverse environmental conditions. It does not corrode under the influence of UV. It is resistant to chemicals and aggressive wastewater. Polyethylene tanks are made by rotational molding. They have no seams or welds. This makes them fully sealed and safe.

The first stage of raw sewage treatment takes place in a settling tank. There the wastewater is pre-treated by sedimentation, which is the settling and deposition of solid particles. In the settling tank there is also a flotation process, which causes light pollutants and fats to float to the surface, forming the "skin". Fermentation occurs, heavier particles insoluble in water sink to the bottom to form sludge. The liquid continues to move slowly to the next part of the treatment process.

The next stage of wastewater treatment takes place outside the settling tank, i.e. in the ground by means of a drainage infiltration system. An effective wastewater treatment process takes about 3 days. Therefore, it is key to select a tank with optimal capacity and adapt it to the prevailing water and soil conditions at the location of the investment. A properly designed settling tank removes suspended solids in about 75%-80%, BOD-5 in about 40-70%, before the wastewater flows to the next equipment. It is assumed that the wastewater at the outlet of the septic tank is treated in about 65%.
